Own Booking Flow or Third-Party Widget? How to Decide

Many restaurants add a booking widget from a large platform and never think about it again. That can work, but it is worth knowing what you trade away.
Questions to ask
- Does the widget look and feel like part of your website, or like a different brand?
- Who owns the guest data, and can you contact guests directly?
- Are there per-cover fees that grow as you get busier?
- How many taps does it take to book on a phone?
A simple rule
If a platform brings you new guests through its own app, keep it. If most bookings already come from your own website and Google, a booking flow built into your site usually gives a smoother experience and keeps the relationship with the guest yours.
The right choice is the one that keeps booking effortless for guests and sustainable for you.
